If you do, then you have an idea as to the power, protection, and patronage behind the Foster Father of Our Lord. And, if you're new to this devotion and saint, you're in for a real treat! Discovering St. Joseph is like finding a lost father. So close is he to the Throne of God and the heart of Our Lady that in finding him, in him we find the Holiest of Families. 

Today starts the novena to St. Joseph, to end on the eve of his March 19th feast-day. While there are so many novena prayers to choose from, I must share with you our family's favorite. Each member of our family chooses an intention, usually including a need for a male family member or friend (father, uncle, grandfather, neighbor, etc. - because after all, St. Joseph is especially fond of fathers and leaders of families) and we pray the novena prayer below, together. In this way, we're all uniting our intentions into one giant "delivery", heavenward. It is safe to say that not ONE intention has ever been left unanswered, and our amazement never ceases when an uncle or friend converts, a holy spouse is provided for, a job is found, or our own father's graces are multiplied.  From small financial requests to bankruptcy - St. Joseph is there to aid his children, no matter the level of impossibility or need.

Novena Prayer to St. Joseph: 

O glorious St. Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, to you we raise our hearts and hands to implore your powerful intercession in obtaining from the benign heart of Jesus all the helps and graces necessary for our spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly for the grace of a happy death and the special favor we now implore. (mention your request)

(7 Times) O glorious St. Joseph, through the love you bear to Jesus Christ and for the glory of His name, hear our prayers and obtain our petitions.

Amen.

New Design: Lima Rose

Named after St. Rose of Lima, our new Lima Rose Design is as meaningful as it is lovely. The parallel between the symbolism of the rose flower and the name of St. Rose of Lima is hardly a coincidence. The rose has been used in church symbolism for centuries to represent the Holy Faith, Our Lady, martyrdom, and penance. For a woman dedicated to Holy Mother Church, living a life of self-martyrdom and penance, and who practiced a lively devotion to the Mother of God, the name "Rose" truly defined this remarkable saint from Lima, Peru.

New Design: Crown of Wicklow

Inspired by the magnificence and closeness of earth to heaven in Glendalough, Ireland, this design is named appropriately, "Crown of Wicklow". The remains of St. Kevin's monastic settlement are nestled as churches, dwellings, and tombs within the breathtakingly beautiful Wicklow Mountains. We created this design in the hopes of conveying the triumph crown of heaven through the sufferings and trials of the Cross, as lived by the hundreds monks who followed St. Kevin into the wilderness. The yellow and blue jewels in this design stand for the colors of Wicklow, as flown in the flags of our own century, today.

This design can be found in our Online Gallery and would be perfect in application on totes, missal/book covers, afghans, and more.

St. Maria Goretti - A Beautiful Rose

"A pure heart is a beautiful rose" - St. John Marie Vianney

This July marks the 110th anniversay of St. Maria Goretti's death - the ultimate sacrifice in the name of purity. Former president for Catholics United for Christ, Mr. James Likouds' reflection on St. Maria Goretti as a saint for our times resounds with truth, "In many of his addresses, Pope John Paul II has noted that the 20th century has been perhaps the bloodiest and most murderous century in the history of mankind, giving the Church the most martyrs in her 2,000-year history. It should be a matter of profound reflection that the 20th century may be said to have begun with the martyrdom in 1902 of a young girl, Maria Goretti–not yet 12 years of age–who did not hesitate to give her life for the virtues of virginity and chastity so cherished by the Catholic Church."

In a world so quick to reject the principles of chastity in every corner of life, we are given the example of a small child to fortify our courage. Let us always strive to foster a love and emulation of St. Maria Goretti's purity in our own lives and especially in the lives of the youth of today.  

"Oh Saint Maria Goretti who, strengthened by God's grace, did not hesitate even at the age of twelve to shed your blood and sacrifice life itself to defend your virginal purity, look graciously on the unhappy human race which has strayed far from the path of eternal salvation. Teach us all, and especially youth, with what courage and promptitude we should flee for the love of Jesus anything that could offend Him or stain our souls with sin. Obtain for us from our Lord victory in temptation, comfort in the sorrows of life, and the grace which we earnestly beg of thee (here insert intention), and may we one day enjoy with thee the imperishable glory of Heaven. Amen."
